LAKE ODESSA BY MOONLIGHT

Schedule - Meet for cookout at 5:30 p.m. at Toolesboro Access (contact us if you need directions)
Launch -
depending on moon
Sunset - 6:00 p.m.
Return - approximately 10:00 p.m.

Due to COVID masks will be required during water entry and exit, during shuttles and while serving food. We should be able to distance while on the water and at the campfire. We appreciate your understanding.

What to bring - Lawn chair, bug spray, comfortable paddling clothes, water shoes. Plan to bring layers depending on forecast evening weather.Cameras and phones should be in a waterproof pack with a way to secure them to your boat. Coolers for water or snacks are fine but no alcohol will be permitted while we paddle.
Non-paddlers are welcome to join us for the cookout and keep the fire going.

If you have your own canoe or kayak, you are welcome to bring your boat. Advance reservation and fees still apply.

FOOD
- We will provide yummy fall food for the cookout. Bring your hot dog sticks.
We'll supply lots of water.

All boats must have a light attached to the boat. River Basin has a variety of waterproof lights available. Contact us in advance if you want to purchase one.

REGISTRATION FEE - Advance reservation is required so we have a food and shuttle count. Please call 319-752-1857.

-Registration is $25 per person

RENTALS - Rentals require advance reservation and payment.
Special canoe rental price is $25.
We have a limited number of kayaks available. Please call to reserve.
We have 2 person recreational kayaks ($45), sit-on-top kayaks ($35) and single touring or recreational kayaks ($35).

Odessa Water Trails - The Odessa Water Trails is 6,400 acres of wetland. It is well known for it's migratory waterfowl and duck hunting. Situated in the Port Louisa Wildlife Refuge and Odessa Management Area a variety of wildlife can been seen any time of year. The water trail was develped as a collaboration between Tri-Rivers Conservation Foundation, Louisa County Conservation Board, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. CAMPING - Camping is available at Snively Campground, near Schafer Access. The camppground has a pit toilet, electric and non electric camping. Camping is $12 per night but may fill early. Click here for Snively Campground info.

SOUTHEA/ST IOWA AREA - There are two small hotels in Wapello. Burlington, 30 miles south has a variety of hotels including Super 8, Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn and Americ Inn.
Burlington has all your major fast food restaurants.

SAFETY:

- YOU MUST WEAR A LIFEVEST WHEN ON THE WATER
- PARTICIPANTS UNDER 16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN. ONE ADULT MUST BE IN EACH CANOE.
- NO ALCOHOL WILL BE PERMITTED BEFORE OR DURING PADDLE.
